Formula 1 GP Austria 28/06-30/06/2024

RACE REPORT | F1 Japan 2024

After a setback in Australia, where he had to retire due to a technical problem, Max Verstappen celebrated another triumph in Japan. Sergio Pérez confirmed Red Bull's dominance with second place.

There were two starts in Suzuka this time. The first start was ruined by an accident between Ricciardo and Albon, after which the barrier had to be repaired.

The second start was already without a problem and Verstappen took the lead, followed by his teammate Pérez. McLaren and Ferrari drivers battled it out in the other positions.

After the first round of stops in the points, Leclerc took the lead, betting on a one pit stop strategy.

But then Verstappen took the lead and held it to the finish.

The Dutchman was followed by Pérez, who held second position until the finish.

The situation behind them was more interesting. With 8 laps to go, Leclerc held third place, but eventually the Monegasque was overtaken by his teammate Sainz. This left the Ferrari drivers in third and fourth.

Norris, who had held podium positions in the early stages of the race, finished fifth.

The points for sixth place went to Fernando Alonso, who was followed for a long time by Piastri.

However, the Australian eventually finished eighth as Russell got past him. Ninth in Suzuka was Hamilton, followed by local hero Tsunoda, who finished in tenth place.
